FAQs
I don’t live near Orlando. Can I still get help?
Currently, I am able to offer online counseling provided you live in the state of Florida. Online counseling can be a more flexible and convenient way to get the help you need. If you do not live in Florida, psychologytoday.com is an excellent resource for finding well-qualified therapists in your area.
Do you only see couples?
No. I do concentrate on and specialize in working with couples, but I work with a variety of issues, including sexual addiction, anxiety, grief over death, divorce, and painful break ups, and life transitions.
What ages do you see?
I generally see adults over the age of 18.
What can I expect during my first (three) couples counseling appointments?
When you walk into the office, you’ll immediately find a warm, relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. You’ll be offered coffee, tea, a soft drink or even a frappuccino to enjoy as we get started. I’ll spend the first several minutes providing you with information you need to know such as the protection of your confidentiality and privileged information. We’ll discuss what you’re hoping to gain in therapy and what the process will look like.
For the second and third appointments I will meet with each of you individually to complete a more detailed intake—what we call an “attachment history” in EFT. The purpose of this is to give you the opportunity to spend as much time filling me in on the details of your larger story and what your life has been like leading up to your present relationship. This helps us make sense of the fears, frustrations, and difficulties in connecting you’re experiencing now and sets the stage for deeper, more meaningful couples work. All three of these appointments are 80-90 minutes in length.
PREMARITAL COUNSELING
All of the above applies with a few differences. Firstly, prior to coming in for your appointment, I will have sent you a link and you will have completed the Prepare / Enrich online assessment. As a Prepare / Enrich facilitator, I receive your assessment results and start formulating a tailor-made plan for processing your strengths as well as areas of possible growth in your relationship. I provide each of you with a packet we can go through together for the duration of your pre-marital work (6-8 sessions.) In the first session, we’ll review the results of your assessment, discuss any thoughts, feelings and hopes you have, and agree together on a plan for making the most of our time in order to set you up for a lifetime of happy and satisfying marriage!

Do you accept insurance?
I am a fully private pay provider and do not panel with insurance companies. However, I can provide a superbill for submission to your insurance company. This means you are responsible for session fees at the time of service, but your insurance company may be able to reimburse you a portion of the fee.
How long am I going to be in therapy for?
EFT is a time-bound form of therapy with 8-20 sessions being the standard range of sessions. However, we will take all the time you need. Depending on the depth and extent of your disconnection and the number of years you’ve been struggling, it may take longer to restructure your bond. My commitment to you, as well as an intrinsic component of EFT—is transparency about where we are in the process. It is just as important to the process to celebrate the wins, successes and progress as it is to work through tough spots!
